Environment and Water

The overarching goal of the Environment Pillar is to promote dialogue among LMI countries on sound and sustainable environmental management.  Within this goal, the LMI promotes sound and sustainable natural resource management and climate change policies and improve institutional and human resource capacity to address related transnational issues; strengthens existing institutions and fosters cooperation among national institutions and among LMI countries; encourages green growth, including the development and incorporation of good governance tools for sustainable natural resource management into the Lower Mekong Basin development strategy; and improves  Disaster Risk Management practices and climate change adaptation strategies through development and deployment of better weather and climate simulation tools.
