Mekong River Commission-Mississippi River Commission Sister River Exchange
August 18, 2019 - August 23, 2019 / New Orleans, Louisiana; Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.
The 2019 Mekong-Mississippi River Commission (M2RC) Exchange is a multi-national effort intended to create integrated sub-regional cooperation between Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, Viet Nam, and the United States for sharing best practices in the area of river basin management.
The M2RC Exchange supports the "Sister Rivers Partnership" between the Mekong River Commission and the Mississippi River Commission and is an program under the Water, Energy, Food, and Environment Nexus Pillar of the Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI). The exchange, which includes ministerial and senior leaders from the participating countries and agencies, focuses on the Environment and Water aspects of the LMI program. This year, the 2019 M2RC Exchange will take place August 18-23 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Portland, Oregon. The exchange will include participation at a portion of the Mississippi River Commission's annual "Low Water Inspection". We hope the M2RC Exchange will promote integration and cooperation between all participants to enhance the use of regional and international mechanisms among the Lower Mekong countries.
